In accordance to the new Regulation on the Governance of the Energy Union and Climate action, Member States were asked to submit their draft integrated National Energy and Climate Plans by the end of 2018, detailing national objectives, targets and contributions as well as policies and measures to achieve Energy Union objectives, and in particular the 2030 EU energy and climate targets. After an iterative process with the Commission, Member States need to submit their final plans by 31 December 2019.
The session will have a look at the state of play and the progress made by the NECPs so far on an EU-wide basis. After the presentation, a panel consisting of European institutions’ representatives, national and local governments and stakeholders will look further into how the countries can improve their plans in view of their finalisation in December.
This event also represents an opportunity for stakeholders to get a better understanding of submitted draft plans, as well as an opportunity to raise comments and questions both to Member States and to Commission officials in charge of this process.
