Emanuela Colombo has achieved both a PhD in Energetic and a Nuclear Engineering MSc at Politecnico di Milano in Italy where she is currently Full Professor at the Department of Energy and Rector’s Delegate to Cooperation and Development. She worked in the industrial sector for Ansaldo, ABB and Fluent Inc. (now ANSYS-FLUENT). At PoliMI, She leads the SESAM research group at POLIMI working on the analysis and modelling of the interrelations between Energy and Development at different spatial and temporal scale. The group work also under the flag of the UNESCO CHAIR in Energy for Sustainable Development. She served as scientific coordinator for 6 International EU projects in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Egypt Lebanon, Niger, Nigeria, Mozambique and Tunisia. She is also conducting advocacy on sustainable energy for private players, civil society and international organisations (IEA, ESMAP, UNIDO, AEEP). She is author of more than 250 scientific papers, 91 of which are in Scopus and co-author of the book “Renewable Energy for Unleashing Sustainable Development” by Springer. Since 2007 she coordinates a Network of 30 Universities on Cooperation and Development (CUCS) and she is the academic representative within the National Council of Cooperation.
