DC – AC/DC hybrid grid: how the DC technology can support the energy system transition

The session will explore how new technologies available today (such as DC at different voltage levels) can support the energy transition in a more efficient way, linking the needs of planning, cybersecurity and increasing share of renewables in the energy grid. The session will investigate how the research community, the industry and the policy makers can contribute effectively to the transition to the 2050 carbon free economy. The session will focus on successful actions (using examples of existing projects) and will provide concrete recommendations of necessary actions contributing to reach this ambitious target.
