Join Sustainable Energy Week
Sustainable Energy Week, an initiative of the European Commission, first took place in 2006. Today, it is organised by Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, in close cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy.
EU Sustainable Energy Week showcases activities dedicated to energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. It is designed to spread best practices, inspire new ideas and build alliances to help meet the EU’s energy and climate goals
Our aim is to form a bigger picture out of multiple individual efforts to motivate change through a varied programme of events.
There are two ways to become a part of EUSEW. You can organise an Energy Day activity or event in Brussels or in your city, town or region between 18 and 22 June 2012 and/or register to one of these events as an attendee. Registration will open soon.
Do energy efficiency and renewable energy matter to you?
If energy efficiency and renewable energy are important to you, then you are a potential Energy Day organiser. Organisers of previous Energy Days include:
- Local or regional authorities;
- Companies, business organisations, chambers of commerce;
- Consumer associations, citizen groups and NGO’s
- University/ research centres and think tanks.
Five good reasons to get involved:
- Raise the profile and improve the image of your organisation, town, city or region
- Be part of a European movement
- Spread your sustainable energy technologies and practices
- Attract media attention and make headlines
- Get additional visibility and support for your event from the EUSEW Secretariat.
Covenant of Mayors signatories: be a part of the EUSEW and organise your Energy Days!

Reaching out and making contact at the local level is an excellent way to mobilise and involve citizens and local stakeholders in sustainable energy policy.
By signing up for the Covenant of Mayors, local authorities commit to reducing their CO2 emissions by at least 20 % across their territories. Covenant signatories commit to organising a local Energy Day once a year to engage the involvement of citizens and local stakeholders in meeting this challenge.
Is your city already a Covenant signatory? Then take advantage of the benefits of joining EUSEW 2012 and organise an Energy Day (event, activity, project, exhibition or display) between 18 and 22 June 2012 (weekends before and after are also acceptable).
Full support from the EUSEW secretariat is available – the contact person for Covenant
