EUSEW 2016 tombola has a winner!

EUSEW 2016 #Power2Consumers tombola winner
Maria Cristina Sanz wins EUSEW's #Power2Consumers competition

Maria Cristina Sanz of Green ID is the lucky entrant in the #Power2Consumers draw. She wins a chance to try the latest in zero-emission motoring.

To enter the competition, Ms Sanz answered the question “What’s your wish for a sustainable future” at the 2016 EU Sustainable Energy Week Policy Conference and had her photo taken by its media partner REVOLVE. Her prize is a day’s use of a Toyota Mirai, an electric car powered by hydrogen and a fuel cell stack.

András Siegler, Director of Energy at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, drew her answer on the conference’s last day from more than 150 entries. He congratulated Ms Sanz, saying: “Hydrogen is a major component of the decarbonised energy future in Europe. It has zero emissions and produces only water. And it covers a long range so the consumer doesn’t have to give up comfort.”

The tombola was sponsored by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH-JU) – a public-private partnership between the European Commission, Europe’s fuel cell and hydrogen industry and research organisations that support hydrogen fuel cell demonstration projects across Europe to help deploy the technology worldwide.

“We’re already seeing the first products on the market, so we wanted to give EUSEW participants a chance to try one out,” said Bart Biebuyck, Executive Director of the FCH-JU. “We hope the winner enjoys driving this pioneering technology.”
